You know that feeling the kids had on Willy Wonka when they discovered the Scrumdiddlyumptious Bar at Bill’s Candy shop? Pretty much our sentiments when I stepped inside Cord PDX.

Impeccable design meets ultimate utility at this gem on Portland’s Alberta Street. Only three short years in business, husband-wife owners, Myles and Cary Haselhorst host a collection of “Ranked & Well Stowed” objects (as they call it) sourced and designed from local artists and vintage shops to international finds.

Jonesing for classic, Captain n’ Pirate wood sculptures from the late 50s? Pour Over Coffee that pours not one, but two perfect cups-o-joe? Vintage-inspired lantern with rechargeable USB (seen above), a handsome Sea Captain for the wall, micro-sized colored pencils, handcrafted axe, worldly coffee table books?

I think I’ve made my point.

Go There. And while you’re at it, check out Ampersand next door, the duo’s contemporary art gallery. Let’s just say Portland’s historic art district is putting its best foot forward with the Haselhorst's well curated taste.
